Lectures On: The (orthodox) Evangelical Lutheran Church,
The True Visible Church of God on Earth: (Based upon C.F.W. Walther's Thesis 16): "The Evangelical Lutheran Church accepts God's Word as it interprets itself"
Please Note: When Dr. Pieper makes reference to the "Evangelical Lutheran Church" in his lectures, He is speaking of that Evangelical Lutheran church only, which retains its orthodoxy. Too many religious organizations today (e.g. * W.E.L.S., L.C.M.S., E.L.S., and the CoLC) falsely claim to be orthodox "Evangelical Lutheran" bodies. In truth these organizations are no longer orthodox, but rather heterodox in their doctrine and/or practice because of their persistent defense of and adherence to false doctrine.

ON THE DOCTRINE OF JUSTIFICATION
OF JUSTIFICATION (FROM 'THE BRIEF STATEMENT OF 1932)
[This is The Scriptural Teaching of The Orthodox Lutheran Church]
The Lutheran Watchman states: Justification has two aspects that are complimentary and not contradictory to one another: that of : 1) Objective (or "General") Justification, which Scripture teaches that God has declared Himself reconciled to the whole world in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:19) and
2) Subjective (or "Personal") Justification which Scripture teaches that God justifies, that is, accounts as righteous, all those who believe, accept, and rely on, the fact that for Christ's sake their sins are forgiven. Thus the Holy Ghost testifies through St. Paul: "But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:" Rom. 3:21-24. And again: "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the Law," Rom. 3:28. That God counts faith as righteousness (Rom. 4:4,5; Romans 4:20–25; Mark 16:16).
